Music Monday: Portugal. The Man

On June 4th, Portland, Oregon based indie rock band, Portugal. The Man, released their second album, Evil Friends, under Atlantic Records (7th album as a band). They formed in 2005 by Alaska native John Gourley (lead singer/guitar) and Zach Carothers (back up vocalist/bassist). Other members in the band are Noah Gersh (guitarist), Kyle O'Quin (keyboard) and Kane Ritchotte (drummer).

This is just great music that is very different than any other band i've listened to in a long time. I am currently obsessed with it and can't stop listening to it. Their sound has been referred to as psychedelic rock or progressive rock as well as experimental. They are also open to collaborating and this album was in collaboration with Danger Mouse, Brian Burton, who is a musician, songwriter and a producer. 

Some songs that stand out are Purple Yellow Red and Blue, Modern Jesus, Atomic Man and Hip Hop Kids.
