As New York Fashion Week has ended and London Fashion Week has begun, controversy has come to the attention of the fashion world. Well, it has been a problem in fashion for a very long time, but many are sick and tired of it.

One of the top models in the industry, Chanel Iman, who has graced the runways of Oscar de la Renta, Balenciaga, Versace as well as many more, speaks about what she has had to deal with by being a model of color. She is one of the top black models, but even so she has said that she loses jobs because designers say they "have filled their 'black quota'." That sentence is just wrong and to say that to someone is appalling.
Famed models such as Iman, Naomi Campbell and Bethann Hardison have come together to form the Diversity Coalition. They are pushing for more diversity to be displayed on the runways.
The article goes on to say that the coalition sent out an email to the major governing groups of the fashion industry this past week. They bluntly address the fact that there is no diversity and attack major designers who are at fault such as:
-Alexander McQueen
-Balenciaga
-Chanel
-Saint Laurent.
-Valentino
-Armani
-Roberto Cavalli
-Versace
-Calvin Klein
-Donna Karan
-Marc Jacobs
-Proenza Schouler
I am astonished at many of the designers on this list and I hope this problem can be resolved very soon.
