Dublin based band, Kodaline, has just released their first full length album in the United States today! It was released in Europe in June but today is the day that all us Americans can hear it. Their album is complete with indie rock songs that are filled with catchy hooks that will have you replaying their songs for hours.
The band began in 2005 as 21 Demands but changed their name to Kodaline in 2007. The lead singer and guitarist, Steve Garrigan, and guitarist, Mark Pendergast, have known each other since childhood. They added drummer Vinny May who also grew up with them and recruited bassist Jason Boland. Kodaline has released EP's in 2012 but this was their first full length album, In A Perfect World.
They have had a lot of success in the UK with songs such as "All I Want" which has a sound very reminiscent of early Coldplay. To accompany the song is two excellent music videos that tell a beautiful story of a modern day Beauty and the Beast. Don't be so quick to judge because you need to watch it. There is a Part 1 and a Part 2. Other hits off the album are "High Hopes" and "Brand New Day" which are a blend of folk and indie rock sounds pulled together by poetic lyrics.
For some reason their music seems perfect for listening to on these beautiful autumn days as the leaves fall off the trees. Take a listen and tell everyone you know about this up and coming band.
