November Obsessions
So, I know that I haven't been posting as much but life has become very busy. I am back and hope to be posting a lot more. With that being said, I have decided to dedicate a first post of each month dedicated to my current obsessions. These can include music, books, magazines, shopping etc. Its something new I am trying so I hope you enjoy.
Music Obsessions
For the past few weeks it has been rare to see me without my headphones on because I am obsessed, which I don't even think fully encompasses how I feel about this album, with Arctic Monkeys fifth studio album AM. I have always been a fan of the Arctic Monkeys but there is something about this album that is mesmerizing. Alex Turners physical transformation into what some may call a greaser has translated into their music. This album is a little grittier and a bluesy feel and has been well received from the critics. It is there most successful album to date and if you want to find out for your self check out some songs off the album such as 'Do I Wanna Know', 'One For The Road' and 'Knee Socks' which features lead singer from Queens of the Stone Ages, Josh Homme.
If you haven't heard of British rock band Bastille yet you have probably been living under a rock. They have become worldwide sensations with top hits such as 'Pompeii' and 'Flaws'. There music is just great pop music. Each song is so different and shows how talented lead singer Dan Smith is. What I am currently listening to now is there two albums of covers, In Other Peoples Heartache part 1 & 2. They are not just excellent covers, but they are almost completely new songs. Many of you have probably heard there cover of Miley Cyrus' song 'We Can't Stop', which was amazing. Other great covers include 'No Scrubs' and 'What Would You Do'.
Reading Obsessions
Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you that I hate reading, well that was the old me. I am now a murder mystery novel junkie and I honestly don't read any other genre. Right now I am reading a novel by Marisha Pessl called Night Film. Marisha is a American writer who became successful after the release of her first book, Special Topics in Calamity Physics, which will most likely be my next read. Night Film is a literary thriller based in New York City that begins with a girl found dead and thought to be a suicide but investigative journalist Scott McGrath thinks otherwise. I won't tell you anymore because I am not even finished with it yet so you will have to read and find out.
Shopping Obsession (wish list)
With the cold winter coming I am in search for some cute warm clothing. I have always wanted a floppy knit hat and it is not just fashionable but also warm. I absolutely love Urban Outfitters so I found the perfect hat for only $24.00 which is not bad considering how often it would be worn. Another trend I am noticing is graphic sweatshirts and t-shirts. They have the comfort of a sweatshirt while still remaining fashionable. Another find on Urban Outfitters website is a grey graphic sweatshirt for $39.00. I am definitely considering this purchase. The last item on my wish list is a leather jacket which I think is necessary for everyones wardrobe. It adds something special to a somewhat drab outfit. I found this jacket on H&M's website for $49.95. All things considered that is a good deal on a leather jacket.
