Isabel Marant for H&M
Today was the opening of Isabel Marants collaboration collection with H&M and there were a few bumps in the road following the launch. H&M has had issues in the past with their website functioning correctly during these collection openings and this time was no different.
Isabel Marant is a Parisian designer who creates clothes for the minimalist tomboy bohemian woman who can look chic ever so effortlessly as if they just rolled out of bed. This cool indie french fashion brand has been around since 1994 and has 10 stores around the world. She has opened up a store in SOHO NYC and now, with this collection in collaboration with H&M, the American fans of Isabel Marant are able to purchase these designer clothes at an affordable price.

The collection for H&M is filled with bold patterned pants, chunky sweaters, chic shirts to add to your wardrobe as well as statement accessories and shoes. There is clothing for women, men and teens at the H&M stores. With such a high level of anticipation for the release of this collection, H&M was not prepared for the high traffic.

H&M opened its doors this morning all around the world to release the Isabel Marant collection and people camped out to get a good spot in line. This was to be expected, but what H&M did not prepare for was the crazy online shopping traffic they received when they launched the collection online at 12 noon. The website actually shut down which made shoppers very disappointed. This has happened with other collaboration collections in the past with designers such as Versace who's traffic shut down the website for both of her H&M collections.
These designer collaborations are such a fabulous idea that other brands have taken notice. Target has done collections with Proenza Schouler, Prabal Gurung and 3.1 Phillip Lim. They give customers with smaller budgets the ability to dress fashionably with brands they admire but could never afford. Hopefully H&M learns and anticipates the next wave of fashion crazed shoppers.
