Golden Globes 2014
It has been quite awhile since I have last posted but now I'm back with the fashion highlights from last nights Golden Globes. There were multiple trends I noticed and some very daring new styles on the red carpet. Aside from the fashion, the hosts of the event, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, were absolutely hysterical and should just remain the hosts of the Golden Globes for many years to come.

| Taylor Swift |
 |
| Aubrey Plaza |
 |
| Julie Bowen |
2 Toned
I usually do not like these silhouettes but the 2 toned styles of the gowns were too beautiful to not be noticed. Parks and Recreation star Aubrey Plaza looks stunning and girly in Oscar de la Renta while Taylor Swift looks old hollywood glam in a Carolina Herrera red and black gown. Modern Family star, Julie Bowen was also wearing Carolina Herrera and looks beautiful in a jewel toned dress. This was one of my favorites.

| Emilia Clarke |
 |
| Laura Carmichael |
 |
| Zosia Mamet |
Black and White
A classic trend that is always seen on the red carpet is black and white. It was done effortlessly by Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke in a Proenza Schouler gown. It is mostly white but the touches of black are enough to add that extra spark to the gown. Downton Abbey star Laura Carmichael also looks stunning in a Viktor & Rolf strapless gown. Girls star Zosia Mamet looks regal with her new bob hair cut in a Reem Acra white gown with black floral accents.

| Caitlin Fitzgerald |
 |
| Michelle Dockery |
 |
| Zooey Deschanel |
High Low
Another trend that has been around for the past few seasons in ready to wear but is making a strong debut on the red carpet is the high low gowns. The gowns are just a little shorter in the front but it is enough to make an impact. Caitlin Fitzgerald who stars on Masters of Sex looks modern and beautiful in a gown designed by Emilia Wickstead and I absolutely love the color. Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery also looks stunning in an Oscar de la Renta strapless gown. Zooey Deschanel from New Girl is also wearing Oscar de la Renta and paired a top with a skirt instead of a gown.

| Elisabeth Moss |
 |
| Emma Watson |
 |
| Lizzy Caplan |
 |
| Lupita Nyong'o |
Best Dressed
These four ladies deserve best dressed because they took risks on the red carpet and wore interesting and modern gowns. Mad Men star and nominee for miniseries Top Of The Lake Elisabeth Moss looks amazing in an ox blood J. Mendel gown. Emma Watson also took a big risk by wearing a Dior Couture gown completely open in the back and held together by a tie with tailored black pants on the bottom. I have never seen this on the red carpet and I am happy to see someone taking risks and standing out amongst a sea of strapless gowns. 12 Years A Slave breakout actress Lupita Nyong'o looks gorgeous in a Ralph Lauren gown. The style of gown is new ann innovative and the color looks absolutely stunning on her. Masters of Sex star Lizzy Caplan is wearing Emilio Pucci and looks amazing. The gold geometric pattern along the sleeves and the neck line make this a best dressed gown because it is not a boring black gown, it goes that extra step to be bold.

| Julia Roberts |
 |
| Zoe Saldana |
 |
| Sandra Bullock |
Worst Dressed
Unfortunately there are always those stars that just do not get it right. August Osage County actress Julia Roberts has been on the red carpet many many times and this time she just was at the wrong even clearly. She is wearing a Dolce and Gabbana dress and shirt and that is exactly what it looks like. A dress shirt under a dress and I just can''t wrap my head around this look. I understand she is older but that is no reason to dress way older than you are. Zoe Saldana is wearing a Prabal Gurung dress and it just does not work for her. She is always taking risks on the red carpet and more times that not, they work for her. This dress is not one of those times and there is just too many ideas in this gown which overwhelm her figure. Lastly, Gravity star Sandra Bullock looks mediocre in another Prabal Gurung gown. I don't necessarily hate it but it is not suitable for Sandra Bullock because the choice in colors and the use of color blocking and high low read a little young for her.
